While the opportunity to headline the Super Bowl would be seen as a huge honor by most pop stars — including high-ranking ones — it looks like Rihanna has other plans right now, and is not tempted by the proposition in the slightest.
She was recently asked about her possible plans to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl LIV during the halftime show, but she claimed that she had no intention of attending in this capacity.
According to the singer, her work on her next album is the most important thing in her career at the moment, and she does not want to give up the opportunity to continue working on the project.
She joked that her fans would not be very happy with her if she announced that she was performing at the Super Bowl — although it looks like the main decision was still her own, and not provoked by the wishes of her fan base.
The diva said: “I still got an album to finish. Are you gonna ask me about Super Bowl? My fans about to have my neck. Whatever I do is gonna be confident whether it’s the album, perfume, lingerie, makeup, or fashion. Y’all gonna have to wait. Navy, I’m so sorry.”
Rihanna said no due to her support of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
A source told PEOPLE magazine: “Yes, they asked her, and yes, she declined. That’s certainly what everyone at the NFL believes. I don’t work with Rihanna, so I don’t know what her camp told them, but the word within the organization is that’s why she said no.”
Rihanna seems to know what she is doing with regards to her career, as she has been making all the right moves in it ever since she started out.
The singer has a talent not only for performing on the stage, but for working with other creative people as well, and she has made it clear that she is going to utilize that to its full potential in her career.
Fans have already seen some amazing works by her so far, and hopefully, she is going to continue this trend in the future and release even more fantastic pieces.
If her fans have to watch someone else at the Super Bowl instead of her, they probably would not mind.
