It has been a while since the ladies of Xscape — Kandi Burruss, Tiny Harris, LaTocha, and Tamika Scott — have put out an album; around two decades, in fact — and not many of their fans saw a new album as a possibility in any way.
However, it looks like that is about to change, as the R&B group has announced their intention to record at least one more album, thanks to the mother of Kandi who confirmed that the group was already headed to the studio to record their new piece.
Mama Joyce made the big announcement in front of an audience, claiming that the quartet still has one more album in them, a statement that was met with strong applause and positivity from the audience.
Joyce said this at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre: “They still have one album left. The four of them, they started in my basement, and I feel that they still have another album in them.”
It was funny to see that Kandi was apparently not prepared for the announcement herself, claiming that the band had been put on the spot and they needed to make a response fast, but in the end, she did confirm that she was going to work on her new album if that is what her mother wanted.
Kandi had the following to add: “Obviously she put us on the spot but, I mean. I guess we gon’ grant her her wish. I didn’t know what to say, but at the same time, she put it out there, my group members are here … we gon’ make it happen … we gon’ figure it out.”
Tiny claimed: “Yeah, when everybody schedule get together we gon’ get in that studio.”
It looks like a large number of people would indeed appreciate hearing the band perform once again, and it will be interesting to see if they still have it in them too.
Which, in the end, is great news for their fans as well. It will be a huge event in the music industry, and even though the public has already seen the various members of the band doing their own things in recent years, this will be something on a whole other level.
